Lord Mayor of London says successful information management is vital to the City’s success, 03/12/2007
The successful management of information is vital to the City of London’s success because ‘knowledge matters’ says Alderman David Lewis The Right Honourable, The Lord Mayor of London.
In a foreword for the City Information Group (CiG) Yearbook 2008, he adds;
“The problem is that in this age of instant ‘factoids’ and half-baked opinion disguised as fact, everyone becomes their own researcher, their own information specialist. And therein can lie disaster.”
Mobilising the museum: a call for participants, 30/11/2007
Please help us to express the value of museums, libraries and archives to business.
Most people have a fond childhood memory of a museum or a library - the dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum or the picture books at the local library - but it's much harder to convince people of the value that the business world gets from museums, libraries and archives. We know a little - designers who find inspiration in the V&A, garage owners who research antique motorbike parts - but we know most of it by chance.
MLA London has embarked on a project to understand and develop the hidden business value of museums, libraries and archives, and we need your help. We've decided that the way to reach the truth is by finding and asking the people who know, so we want to ask you to do two things for us:
* Tell us your stories about times when business used a museum, library or archive and something changed as a result.
* Pass this message on to your colleagues and mailing lists and to anyone who might be able to share a story with us.
If you would like to know a bit more about the programme, please take a few minutes to visit our website at mla.sparknow.net and have a look around. If you sign up you can also see the latest news, join the discussion and - soon! - help us to further the enquiry
